State of the Union (Dragonmaster Style!)
"The Jedi are extinct. Their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion....."
Thus, Grand Moff Tarkin to Darth Vader, from A New Hope. As you can imagine, I spent some of last night monitoring the news from Massachusetts, and clearly the air is ripe for revolution. The Kennedys, last defenders of Camelot, are far-flung and, with certain exceptions, barely relevant in the American destiny at all. But indeed, the fire of the Kennedys lives no more, save in that eternal flame monument at Arlington National Cemetery. The point is, the American people don't want what our present Administration wants them to have; and next Wednesday evening, when our President present his first State of the Union Message, there will be considerable gnashing of teeth on both sides of the equation.
Secretly, there have been those who have compared the current Presidency to that of the naive, imbecilic Jimmy Carter. Carter learned far too late, I think, that ours is a society where the answer to "Can't we all just get along?", as far as our enemies are concerned, is a raucous "No!" By the same token, our President is in a similar conundrum. The fact that there are those who would crush America for simply existing period is still, I fear, lost on this President. He must either face the real world or lose his relevancy in office. (I hope, dearest Mark Levin, that you'll post my remarks on your site, because, as I have said many times previously, you are the only one who honestly gets it.)
