A Very Important Royal Thank You Note!
As I've told several of you Mortals over the last couple of days, the prime highlight of your Dragonmaster's Easter Parade gig last Sunday involved my encounter with these delightful Royals, Emperor Craig Hollywood and Empress B of the Imperial Court of New York, as well as their successors-to-be, Emperor Rob Hunter XVII de Woofs and Empress Charlene XXII Chivoe, What an honor it was and a privilege indeed to be able to kiss Empress Charlene's hand! OK, so maybe the ICNY are not the sort of Royalty one would prefer, but this is one Wizard who definitely knows his Royalty when he sees it!
Founded in 1986, as was your Dragonmaster's parent company, Electric Pirates Entertainment, the Imperial Court of New York is one of the more than 70-plus Royal Courts of the Imperial Court System. The System, and thus ICNY itself, is a nonprofit, social, fund-raising organization --- presently with 501(c)3 status, thank goodness! --- which has dedicated itself (themselves) to serving the greater good of our community. First and foremost, the Royals --- the Emperors and Empresses, Princes and Princesses and Dukes and Duchesses --- reign happily with a sense of having fun, staying fabulous (like your humble Dragonmaster himself, oddly enough!), and maintaining a sense of duty to the City they so dearly love: ye olde, grande and glorious Byg Appyl!
To date, the Imperial Court of New York has raised between $800,000 and $1,000,000 for a wide variety of social service organizations and HIV/AIDS support groups, among them the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America; Bailey House; Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS; Gay Men's Health Crisis; God's Love We Deliver; Gilda's Club; and so many others. And they're well loved for their big hair, even bigger jewels, and the biggest royal regalia they can get their gloved hands on! (Remember, dearies, they're the ones with those elegantly glittery crowns and tiaras!) And as for their 'tude? Dare I say, totally awesome! Yes, they do love to have fun, but even though they're Royalty, they do have some very big hearts. So forgive me for a moment if I take some time to address me Wizardly person to Their Imperial Majesties-to-be:
Many thanks, Your Imperial Majesties Rob and Charlene, and to your predecessors Emperor Craig Hollywood and Empress B as well, for your kind wishes unto ol' Blackwolf during last Sunday's Easter Parade. Hopefully, I will attempt to bid ye hello again at May 18th's AIDS Walk New York; or, should I fail to do even that, perhaps, at the very least, watch for your oh, so fabulous Royal Float, during this year's 39th Annual Pride Parade, to take place June 29th, along 5th Avenue and 52nd Street! Alas, as much as I would like the privilege of being able to crash this coming Saturday's Night of a Thousand Gowns over at the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel, in the heart of Midtown Manhattan's Times Square, I must regrettably decline the honor, as my Saturday nights, as always, belong to Cops and America's Most Wanted. Indeed, I hope Your Imperial Majesties will join me in saluting AMW as it nears the capture of its 1000th fugitive! That will, I am sure, be quite the milestone, don't you agree? Still, if I can, at any moment, locate the photo your representatives took, which captured the supreme moment (for me) mentioned earlier, I shall be more than pleased! Huzzah! and hurrah!
Fearlessly yours,
Master Blackwolf
