Dispatch from Dun Morogh and Ironforge, with His Majesty King Magni Bronzebeard
Hey there, World of WarCraft fans! And a very special shout-out to my Dwarf-lovin' pals at the Hobbit-obsessed universe that is TheOneRing.net! King Magni Bronzebeard of Dun Morogh and Ironforge here, chillin' out in my way cool Throne Room, keepin' tabs not only on our usual doings here at Blizzard Entertainment/Activision Blizzard Headquarters, here in fabulous Irvine, California, but also, as I just mentioned, on the doings going on with the new Hobbit movies!
Other than the fact that Peter Jackson's gonna direct both of 'em --- which, after all, is exactly all you Hobbit fans ever wanted, right? --- we got some way cool actors playing Thorin Oakenshield and his Company! First, Richard Armitage is gonna be the Big T.O. himself, the ultimate King under the Mountain; and then we got Aidan Turner doin' the role of Kili; Robbie Kazinsky as Fili; Graham McTavish as Dwalin; John Callen as Oin; Stephen Hunter as big fat Bombur; Mark Hadlow as Dori; and Peter Hambleton as Gloin (Gimli's dad). Damn! Hey, Peter: all this is cool so far, but I need to know who's up for the roles of Balin, Nori, Ori, Bifur and Bofur.
Of course, it's already been confirmed about Martin Freeman starring as Bilbo Baggins --- THE DUDE! --- who sets all the adventure into motion; now, we just gotta get the Big Three signed up. You know who I'm talkin' about, Dwarf-lovin' dudes and dudettes: Ian McKellen as Gandalf (he better!); Andy Serkis as Gollum (don't even THINK of not signing him up!) and Hugo Weaving as Elrond! I hear that Sylvester McCoy's already joined the cast in the part of Radagast the Brown, though I ain't sure how Pete, Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens are gonna get him involved in the story!
Well, kids, that's as much as we can squeeze outta the rumor mill/confirmation thingie. What little else I can tell you is this: The Hobbit, Parts I and II, will be presented by New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, with Warner Bros. handling U.S.-Canadian/North American distribution and MGM taking on international distribution. We'll try to stay on top of stuff as best we can from our post here in Ironforge. Besides, we're Dwarves, and this is the way we roll. Anyway, congrats, Blackwolf, on 600 posts in your Diary of Magecraft --- and good luck this Sunday doing that Halloween Parade! It's a pleasure being post #601! We'll party hearty once you get up to the big one-triple-o!
