Christmas in Dun Morogh and Ironforge
Season's Greetings, World of WarCraft fans --- or, as we here in Dun Morogh and Ironforge call it, Happy Feast of the Winter Veil!
King Magni Bronzebeard of Dun Morogh and Ironforge here, ready to put a few more presents under our Royal Winter Veil Tree --- Greatfather Winter hasn't forgotten us Bronzebeards, y'know! ---- Anyway, Blackwolf the Dragonmaster's on holiday today, so I'm filling in!
Check out tonight's episode of NBC's Deal or No Deal, starring Howie Mandel. The 2-part Christmas Special kicks off with Skip Allen from (well, where else?) Santa Claus, Indiana (dressed, one may assume, as Ol' St. Nick) playing for a million bucks; then there's some guy from Kentucky with his own shot at the million. Little does he know that he'll soon end up with the surprise of his life!
Then it's 1 vs 100, starring Bob Saget. They're goin' the 12 Days of Christmas route on this one --- starting with the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band as the 12 drummers drumming; 11 members of the Irish Bagpipers Band of San Francisco as the 11 pipers piping, etc. --- until we get to Danny Bonaduce (well, duh!) as the "partridge" in the pear tree! You guys gotta love those Endemol people. They're weirder than our bosses here at Blizzard Entertainment.
Oh yeah, one other thing: George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars Saga, has been named 2007 Grand Marshal of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, to mark the 30th Anniversary of the original release of Episode IV: A New Hope! Why? Rose Parade President Paul Holman has that answer. Here's what he says:
"When I was considering a choice for Grand Marshal, I thought about all the unique aspects of our events and our organizations. The challenge, then, was to find someome who embodied the same attributes that are part of the Tournament of Roses --- bringing the world together through entertainment, innovation and technology --- but mostly a spirit of permanence, something that links generation to generation --- and someone who brings a lot of joy to young and old alike. With that in mind, it is my pleasure to name George Lucas as Grand Marshal of our 2007 festivities, to preside over the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game here in Pasadena on New Year's Day."
Reflecting the Parade's 2007 theme of "Our Good Nature," Lucasfilm Ltd, is mounting TWO Star Wars-inspired floats: one, starring those ultra-cute, butt-kickin' Ewoks --- along with the Grambling State University Marching Tigers, Dr. Larry Pannell, Director --- 176 of 'em, dressed as Imperial Officers, complete with Jedi drum major, 8 Twi'lek dancers and another 8 Twi'lek flagbearers (they'll be the ones playing all-new arrangements of the familiar John Williams Star Wars themes); the other, a tribute to Theed and the other way-cool landscapes of Naboo! George and some of the regulars'll be marching with members of the 501st Legion Stormtroopers (yeah, Darth Vader's people --- 200 of them, to be exact, representing 36 U.S. States and 22 countries!) to show the world that the Force is still with them!
Me, I'm just interested in the 2007 Rose Queen. That's 18-year-old Mary McCluggage, who, in addition to attending Flintridge Prep in Pasadena, is their Senior Class Vice-President, President of their Key Club, and is a member of the San Marino Area Chapter of the National Charity League. She also plays varsity softball and volleyball. Mary's Royal Court features Christina Barsamian, age 17, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy; Aneesah Giroux, age 17, John Marshall Fundamental High School; Sue Park, age 17, La Canada High School; Blair Ramirez, age 17, La Salle High; Kaitlin Terpstra-Sweeney, age 17, Pasadena City College; and Danielle Vine, age 17, City of Pasadena High School.
Wanna watch the Parade? It's on ABC Sports, NBC, Univision, The Travel Channel, Home & Garden Television, anchored by Robb Weller, Paul James, Karen MacAloon and Chi-Lan Lieu; Discovery High Definition --- and locally on Los Angeles' own KTLA, anchored by Bob Eubanks and Michaela Pereira; and on Spanish-speaking KWHY-TV/22, anchored by Palmira Perez and Gwendy Rodriguez !
OK, Dwarf-lovin' dudes and dudettes! I gotta get my Royal Butt back on my Throne here! See ya!
Love,
Bronzie
