The Diary of Magecraft, Missive #500
The XXI Olympic Winter Games conclude tonight, as we return indoors to BC Place Stadium, where the Opening Ceremonies concluded with a malfunctioning cauldron. (As I posted, you don't drop the ball, much less experience a hydraulic malfunction, with practically the whole damn planet watching!)
Fortunately, as often happens at an Olympic Closing Ceremony, there'll be a lot of odd things going on, and IOC topper Jacques Rogge will close up these Games, then, per tradition, will invite the youth of the world to assemble four years hence in Sochi, Russia, where in 2014, the XXII Olympic Winter Games shall come to pass. And once all the serious stuff is properly gotten out of the way, the inevitable shall be made manifest. Which is to say, of course, party time! And we don't have to do this again until 18 or so months from hence, and the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London. Needless to say, the BBC will utilize every resource at its disposal --- Radio, Television, Digital --- with all its networks --- BBC World News, BBC Prime/BBC Entertainment, BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC HD, --- in all the components of the U.K. that it serves --- England (Manchester, Bristol Berkshire, Cornwall, Devon, Kent, Essex, Leeds, Norfolk, Oxford, Somerset, Sussex, etc.), Northern Ireland, Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Highlands & Islands, Tayside, Northeast Scotland and Southern Scotland) and Wales (Mid-Wales, Northeast, Southeast, Northwest and Southwest). Their full resources, no doubt, will all be ready. Click ye hither as the BBC Sport crew assesses the lessons learned from Vancouver.
As for your humble Dragonmaster, in case I didn't mention it already, this is Missive #500 in this, my fabulous Diary of Magecraft. I have kept this blog faithfully since August 2004; and, in the seven years and counting that have gone since, I have had much on me Wizardly mind to share with the world. Some of it has been profound, often it's been a little weird, and there have been one or two moments in between. But through it all, I hope you've learned something, if you have learned anything at all from my remarks.
So I guess that leaves but one question: Is Blackwolf the Dragonmaster twisted enough to take his Diary of Magecraft to 1000 entries? To that I have two answers. First, I wouldn't be New York's Unofficial Wizard if I weren't all that incredibly nutty; and secondly --- dare I say it! --- Mortals, you ain't seen nuthin' yet, says I!
Fearlessly yours, as always,
Master Blackwolf
